Shades of Love

by Raylene Bartolacci February 09, 2016

R E D is the color of extremes. It’s the color of passionate love, seduction, violence, danger, anger, and adventure. It is masculine and one of the most powerful warmest colors. It means stop, but can also increase enthusiasm and interest. In some cultures it signifies prosperity and joy. Red is energizing. It excites the emotions and motivates us to take action. Being the color of physical movement, the color red awakens our physical life force. It is the color of sexuality and can stimulate deeper and more intimate passions in us, such as love and sex.

P I N K is the mix of red and white, known as a hue, it contains the need for action of red, helping it to achieve the potential for success and insight offered by white. It is the passion and power of red softened with the purity, openness and completeness of white. It is feminine and romantic, affectionate and intimate, thoughtful and caring. It tones down the physical passion of red replacing it with a gentle loving energy. Pink is intuitive and insightful, showing tenderness and kindness with its empathy and sensitivity, it is a sign of hope.

Now that we've got that out of the way, what to wear for your Valentine's weekend? . . . I've come up with a few options, perhaps you are even taking a weekend away so all of these would be great, because every LALAdy likes options.

For the Traditionalist

So you've been seeing this guy and he's taking you to the restaurant it takes three weeks to get a reservation at. You want his jaw to hit the floor when he picks you up, welp here it is . . .

Outfit breakdown:

Dress: NBD

Jacket: n:Philanthropy

Clutch: Luana

For The Adventurist . . .

Valentine's Day happens to be on a Sunday this year and so perhaps you are doing a daytime activity. Your man likes you natural and a little more casual. While it can be flattering that they like you with no make-up on and just you being you, it is still a date. Not to worry the dilemma is solved ever since athletic wear has transformed to athleisure wear and stepped up their game, so you can too.

Sports Bra and Leggings: Koral

Backback: Luana

Sweater: Margaret O'Leary

For The Wild One

Whether this Valentine's Day is GNO, or sort of a date sort of not . . . I have nothing to wear. Trust me, wear this and you won't be single or in that super annoying gray area for long. Promise!

 Bodysuit: Olympia Theodora

Leather Pants: David Lerner

Flannel: Rails

Leather Harness aka Contraption: Jakimac

Wherever you find yourself always remember, you can never be too happy, too healthy or too put together!

Happy Valentine's Day! Ooh LALA
